The Impressionist's Garden, 

Highlighting the pitcher plant represents the natural vessel that grows in the wild was once brought into a home, hanging by the window in the kitchen.

A series of stoneware ceramic sculptural vessels that rethinks what a vessel can be in a contemporary context. Originally, vessels were made to hold essentials—water, food, sustenance. As we evolve, so do our needs. What we choose to hold has expanded, and vessels now carry more than the physical. They begin to shelter, preserve, and even suggest the intangible.

 

The kitchen in my childhood home had many windows that captured moments of light, memory, and connection. Hanging along it were pitcher plants, unusual, slightly mysterious. Their bodies curved into hollow forms, like small waiting containers. I would carefully pour water straight into their open mouths, where it lures, traps, and consumes, unlike other plants.

 

The forms in this series emerge from observing the oddities and quiet strangeness within our environment. The sense that the world is full of forms and behaviours that exist beyond what we expect. Now, when I think about vessels, I don’t just think about function. I think about what we choose to hold, and how we hold it. Sometimes, we contain more than just physical things.
