Collection: The Sisi's Collection

a functional sculpture carved and sculpted by hand from stoneware clay. It embodies the spirit of Sisi, a lady who was raised with a sense of freedom, authenticity and adorned by her ethereal beauty. As she aged, she began to refuse to reveal her face, hiding behind heavy veils and leather fans. As an act of mourning for her own vanishing youth. The work captures this internal conflict through a deliberate layering of the glossy surfaces and porous, bony forms.

Inspired by the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, and my visit to Hofburg Palace.
